Movies
Beau and I have been watching movies a lot lately. Watched "Pirates Of The Caribbean: World’s End", which was, in my opinion, a convoluted mess for the most part. Maybe if I’d watched all 3 movies at once, it would have made more sense. I loved the make-up and costumes though. Except for the Asian get-up on Elizabeth. Not sure what they were thinking there. I absolutely hated the ending. I’m not a person that expects a happy ending for every movie I see. Quite the opposit, really. I generally appreciate a non-Hollywood ending. But I wanted Pirates to come to a happier conclusion, dammit! Next we saw "Enchanted" which was funny, romantic and very happy. If there was any message there at all it was this: Magic is everywhere. You just have to look for it. Beau enjoyed it too, which kinda surprised me. It wasn’t as chick-flickish as I was afraid it was going to be. Last, and best of all, we saw "No Country For Old Men", which was absolutely brilliant. It deserved every Oscar it won. The storyline was unique and the movie was filled with witty dialogue and unusual characters. If you grew up in the South, I’m sure you know people just like the ones in "No Country..". The Coen Brothers have a real talent for filling their films with extraordinary characters. But "No Counrty.." is depressing and sad and is a bleak social commentary about the lure of money and what it can do to destroy people. Not a happy movie, but more than worth a watch.
Anybody seen anything lately they’d recommend?
